Patty Jenkins is out as Thor 2's director and why am I not surprised? Damn you, Marvel! Anyway, the company, which micro-manages their films to the nth degree, has signed on Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor. The script, originally by Don Payne, is now apparently being reworked by Robert Rodat, who wrote Saving Private Ryan, according to Screenrant. Rodat also received an Oscar nod for his work.

Okay, so I have been dying for this movie because not only is it some of the coolest heroes ever gathered, but it's Joss Freakin Whedon at the helm. A badass director, writer and producer, whose work I worship. Sorry, geek moment! Anyway without further ado here is the trailer for the superhero movie The Avengers, opening in May 2012.

Girl Power Rumored For Thor 2

Oh my God I hope this bit of Hollywood speculation comes true. It seems Marvel Studios wants Patty Jenkins to direct Thor 2. Can I get an Amen and a Hallejulah? Dead Line reports that Marvel is in serious talks with the director, who recently helmed the epic AMC miniseries, The Killing. She is probably best known for directing Charlize Theron to her Oscar as serial killer Aileen Wuornos in 2003's Monster.

Captain America: Corn Fed Golden Boy

Maybe I really am the crabby old lady my nephew called me, but I just could not stand this movie. The whole thing had a bland, hokey vibe to it, Little Orphan Annie meets Gomer Pyle, USMC, which is unlike anything Marvel has done before. I first thought it might be trying to recreate some sort of supposed innocence of the time. However, it struck me that the 40’s were not an innocent time. We’d come through WWI, Prohibition, gangster wars and Pearl Harbor. And by 1942-43, the time in which this movie is set, Americans were dying by the thousands on the battlefield. X-Men: First Class did a superior job of blending hero origins with the tensions of the Cold War early 60’s where as this played out as straight up fantasy with no sense of truth. X-Men wove in real events with layered, complex characters. This was Who Framed Roger Rabbit run amok.

First Trailer The Amazing Spider-Man

Comic Con is the best source for all things superhero and this time around they've unveiled the new trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man, the reboot of the titanic Marvel franchise helmed by Marc Webb. This looks just wow!



The Amazing Spider-Man drops on July 3, 2012 and stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Denis Leary as George Stacy, Irrfan Khan as Nels Van Adder/Proto-Goblin, Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Conners/The Lizard, Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben and Sally Field as Aunt May.

This is more of an origin story and delves back into Peter's childhood. We see Campbell Scott as Richard Parker and Embeth Davidtz as Mary Parker. I am psyched for this and I thought I would not be because I was initially ticked that they were taking Spider-Man back to his Teeny-bopper dreamboat days. However, from the looks of this, it's dark and edgy like a certain other superhero reboot.

Aronofsky Quits The Wolverine

In a shocking statement released Thursday, acclaimed director Darren Aronofsky has announced that he has quit the production of The Wolverine, 20th Century Fox's highly anticipated superhero sequel. In a joint statement released with Fox, the director told The Hollywood Reporter "As I talked more about the film with my collaborators at Fox, it became clear that the production of The Wolverine would keep me out of the country for almost a year." He further stated, "I was not comfortable being away from my family for that length of time. I am sad that I won't be able to see the project through, as it is a terrific script and I was very much looking forward to working with my friend, Hugh Jackman, again."
