Reeves and Gillespie Set To Direct Vampires And Zombies

Matt Reeves, best known for last year's undead success Let Me In and the monster hit, Cloverfield, is set to direct another horror epic featuring vampires. According to Deadline, Fox 2000 is having Reeves sink fang into the film The Passage, based on the best-selling Justin Cronin novel. When terminal cancer patients are subjected to the bites of bats in South America, they appear to be cured. The government furthers the experiments and everything unravels. Instead of a permanent cure for cancer, they unleash a vampiric plague. The patients are turned into superhuman, telepathic vampires that drive the human race to brink of extinction. It's good to see vampires get their monster status back after Twilight yanked their fangs out by turning them into sparkling, angst-ridden posers.

And speaking of monsters, it's zombie time! Lionsgate has tapped Craig Gillespie from Lars and the Real Girl and the upcoming Fright Night remake, to direct Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, the Seth Grahame-Smith mash-up novel of the Jane Austen classic. Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth must navigate drawing room society while battling an army of undead ghouls. Yummy!

I loved both novels and am looking forward to see what these two exciting directors do with the material. Do you think they have what it takes to deliver the goods for these best-selling novels?

Wow, that's a pretty inventive vampire premise. Should be a hoot of a film!

And a Zombie mash-up of a terrific novel. Cool as can be, I'd say!

Nice news updates, Mel!

Now that's interesting! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Matt Reeves - he's an extremely talented director and he has a great sense of visual style.

Cancer-turns-vampire plague - WOW, I didn't see that one coming :) It's sounds, well, crazy. :) I'm sure he'll execute it flawlessly.

I'm super excited about "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" too! Bring it on!

Great post, Mel! Seriously.

@Matt Thanks! The Cronin novel is part of a trilogy and I am so excited for the film.

Mr. Darcy fighting zombies had me instantly.

@Nebular Thank you! Reeves is quite the talent. This vampire tale is crazy good and I can't wait to see what he'll do with the material.

And bring on those zombies! The book was great and I have been dying for this film ever since I found out they were going to do one.

I wonder when will angels get their place in Hollywood instead of zombies and vampires :)

@Dez I know! I'd like to see some of these angels that I read about come to life on the big screen.

"It's good to see vampires get their monster status back after Twilight yanked their fangs out by turning them into sparkling, angst-ridden posers." HAHA! Word to that. I can't wait for a monster vampire movie--about time! Between this and The Priest, hopefully they'll become demonic again.

Plus, awesome zombie movie. I kinda wanted to read the book...but kinda didn't want to reread Austen. This looks like a happy solution to me. Great update!

Vampires and zombies creep me out. There's no way I will be watching this movie! Hah. I also wouldn't watch Twilight either. Vampires will always be scary in my books ...

@M Glad you liked my little Twilight comment. I can't wait for Priest, either. It looks to be kick ass and with Paul Bettany and Karl Urban, you can't go wrong. Definitely read the Austen mash-up. It's like nothing you've ever read before. and there's a sequel, too.

@Zinn Vampires and zombies are creepy, but they're monsters. Making them sparkle was just wrong and you are fortunate to not have seen Twilight. Thanks for commenting. :)

I have been searching for the perfect curl cream for most of my 33 year lifespan and I believe I

have found it in this product! I have a lot of fine naturally curly hair and this cream is great. Keep in mind, however, that a little goes a LONG way! For example, my hair is down past the middle of my back

and I use approximately 2 teaspoons. I apply it when my hair is wet, right out of the shower, and then just scrunch with a towel and that is all the product I need! It is a little costly, but this bottle

lasts me about 4 months.

I

starting using this oil when I colored my hair at the recommendation of my hairdresser because my hair sometimes felt limp and lifeless. I still use it now that I've let my gray grow out. It makes my hair

feel and smell great. I found that I don't have to wash my hair every day; I just spread some Curl Cream on my hands and scrunch it through my hair and it works out the "bedhead" look. I don't have super

curly hair; in fact, when I wash it, it looks straight. My hairdress is the one who showed me, using the Curl Cream, that my hair is actually naturally curly..not just wavy. I love it and use it nearly every

day.

I have thick naturally curly hair. I think the smell is too strong & more age appropriate for someone older but finding a product that

has everything good/ideal has been impossible. Quite expensive so if you can get a deal then it's worth it.

I suffer from curly, frizzy, wild hair.. I have tried every product imaginable and this is the best product

out there.. It takes about a minute to heat and run it through each handful of hair once and your hair is perfect.. it will stay smooth and frizz free not to mention straight as a board until u wash your

hair next(even if u wait 3 days).. Please buy this product if u don't believe me.
