Last week it was reported that Hans Zimmer, composer of Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies, was given the task to score the new Superman reboot. However at last nights Inception DVD/Blue ray release he has quoted quite the opposite.
|Composer John Williams|
News spread faster than a speeding bullet last week that Hans Zimmer has been tasked to score the new Superman movie. But now Zimmer has stated that he has never even been approached by Zack Snyder, director of the reboot, and wouldn‘t even know where to begin to replace such an iconic movie theme established by John Williams. You can read what Zimmer had to say over at The Hollywood Reporter in an exclusive interview.
So now this leaves the scope wide open. Is Snyder actually going to get someone to compose a new score for his reboot or was he never intending to replace the iconic Superman theme done by John Williams in the previous big screen movies?
With many fans not wanting a change to the score, Williams might still indeed get a call from Snyder. But that’s not ignoring the fans of the famous DC character that are all ready for a big change including the score to have a makeover.
What’s for sure is that John Williams remains one of today’s top world composers, and the Superman theme being one of his most iconic masterpieces, it would be hard pressed to find something as good as Williams theme to better fit the ‘man of steel’, which even Hans Zimmer himself would agree.
More Superman fans are campaigning to keep the Williams score than those opting for it to be changed, so why fix something that’s not broken? Many would agree, even though Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns was disappointing amongst critics and fans, everybody cheered as soon as they heard that famous music in the opening credits playing again.
Being a fan of the old movies, and also desperately wanting to see Zack Snyder reboot the franchise Christopher Nolan style, if nothing else was to stay the same, maybe the one thing that worked every time before, the Williams score, should be kept in, and now, with what last week seemed to be iron clad with Zimmer, the Williams score still has a massive chance of returning.
