Dark Knight Sequel Update: An Inception reunion on the cards? Tom Hardy Cast!

The Dark Knight Sequel is now most certainly gathering momentum, Deadline.com is reporting that Warner Brothers and Director Christopher Nolan have signed Tom Hardy for an unspecified role in the upcoming sequel.

The 411...

Although there is no word on what the role may be, speculation over the web has already started pinning him as the villain, and the favourite being the Riddler, a role that had been rumoured for some time to be played by Johnny Depp and more recently Joseph Grodon-Levitt. The last few days even had Edward Norton rumoured as a possible front runner.

Tom Hardy, who recently played ‘Eames’ in Christopher Nolan’s Inception and also cast as lead role in the upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road (2012), is not the only name from Nolan’s Inception cast to be associated with the Dark Knight sequel. For a while now Inception co-star Joseph Gordon-Levitt had been rumoured to play the Riddler himself, and it is still likely that he might also have involvement in the sequel.

With this news being hot off the press, its bound to make way for further casting announcements and plot details. And while many of the most favourite gossip and rumours indicate the Riddler, and now Tom Hardy to play the role, I will leave you with one question, is it possible he might make a good Deadshot?

oh, Hardy, I love him so! I'm glad that his career is getting some serious momentum.

Loved Inception and I'm glad to see Hardy involved with this project. I cannot wait until everything about this film is confirmed and it starts shooting. I remember when they filmed DK here in Chicago. I got to see Heath Ledger and the Batmobile up close on Wacker Drive. My sister saw Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman walking toward the elevator because her building was the Commissioner's office and the boardroom for Wayne Enterprises.

Oh God, I absolutely love Tom Hardy! He's handsome, talented, charismatic - he's got it all! :) Acting-wise, he was Inception's highlight for me. Can't wait to watch him again. Hopefully, they'll give him a major role in this Dark Knight sequel.

I didn't know this actor until I saw Inception, but he did so good that I can't wait to see more of his movies. Especially, if they are directed by Nolan.

I like this move, but I think Levitt as the Riddler would be a must see.

I will love to see that movie if Johnny deep become the riddler. He got the character to be riddler.

I think JGL could work as the Riddler. His youth can work if he's supposed to be a young post-college hacker or something who's really smart. However, Tom Hardy is compatible with so many differing villains and I'm really hoping he gets the villain role.

Not surprised (or against) this casting and I can't really think of anyone else who he could be playing bar The Riddler, although you would have thought they'd just annouce him as the villain if that's who he's going to be.

Nolan has already said that Penguin and Mr. Freeze are no-nos, but I suppose it's possible they're going for a less popular bad guy alongside Catwoman. Has The Riddler actually been confirmed anywhere?

Oh wow... I actually think Joseph Gordon-Levitt would make an awesome Riddler! If Heath Ledger came into his own with his role as The Joker, I think this could do the same for Joseph.
