First Look At The Hobbit

Check this out... Here's a first look at some of the production shots from The Hobbit films just released to Entertainment Weekly. My anticipation is building like crazy. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is scheduled to hit theaters on December 14, 2012 while The Hobbit: There and Back Again will follow on December 13, 2013. They are on a 254 day shoot in New Zeland, which is 12 days shy of the Lord of the Rings shoot. And they're only doing 2 movies this time. LOL just 540 days to go for all you Tolkien LOTR geeks out there like me.

Here's Peter Jackson with Martin Freeman as Bilbo. Word is from Jackson that Freeman has the biggest Hobbit feet ever and it's been difficult for him to master the Hobbit walk.

Here's Martin Freeman as Bilbo reading a scroll in front of some guests at Bag End.

And here's Ian McKellan, back as Gandalf the Gray. Jackson said to EW "He's in fantastic form." For more up dates and vids you can go the films' Facebook page.

It looks just like Lord of the Rings. It'll be nice watching this next year.

Can't wait! The Hobbit is going to be huge. Bummer it's in two parts, as it will be forever before we get images of Smaug, but two movies gives Jackson time to do it right.

Nice scoop. And with that news, my anticipation builds to a feverish pitch. Jackson can do no wrong when it comes to adapting Tolkien.

Looks pitch perfect, as per usual from Mr. Jackson and company - thanks for the 411, MB!

@Movies Isn't it great o be returning to Middle Earth? I so can't wait.

@Dezz Oh heck yeah Ian looks fantastic. He has such presence on screen.

@Alex These have totally whet my appetite. It is a shame we won't be getting Smaug til the second film, but it will be done right which is the most important. Can't help, but want Smaug, though. I love dragons.:)

@Matt Thanks! I so agree that Jackson can do no wrong with Tolkien. The anticipation is killing me.

I didn't even know they already shoot it. Thanks for the stills, Mel. I can't wait for "The Hobbit", and I doubt that anyone can :)

@Nebular Waiting for The Hobbit is like waiting for Christmas morning when you're a small child. I am dying to see this and these pics have really amped up my already considerable enthusiasm. :)
