Jeepers Creepers 3:Cathedral....Is the Creeper finally returning?

It has now been 7 years since Jeepers Creepers 2 and talks of a third instalment have been rumoured since JP2’s release in 2003.
Director and writer Victor Salva has assured fans that the movie was imminent since 2007, but with MGM being auctioned and script re-writes, the movie has been delayed time and time again.

So what is actually happening with this third instalment?



The 411.…..

The plot of the movie is said to surround Trish Jenner who has a recurring nightmares where her son Darry (Named after her brother) suffers the same fate as her brother did, killed by the Creeper. Determined to prevent this from happening, Trish, who is now a rich and powerful woman, sets out on a final quest with Jack Taggart Sr. and Jr. to end the Creeper's reign of terror once and for all.


The latest bit of news on this movie was announced by actor Ray Wise back in March this year, who played Jack Taggart snr in Jeepers Creepers 2.

He stated "The script for 'Jeepers Creepers 3' is complete," Wise said. "They're in pre-production planning now. I'm hopeful that sometime in the next two or three months we'll get a start date...[MGM] definitely wants to do it, and it's just a matter of putting together all the final financing I believe...I think it's gonna be a go in a couple of months."

Director Victor Salva has also stated some details on the movie and its premise….

“The movie will be called Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral, and Jonathan Breck, the Creeper, will once again return to reprise his role. Though we have decided, after much fan feedback, to give him his truck back for the new film," He also stated that…
“Gina Phillips, the actress from the first film, will also return for Jeepers Creepers 3 who is playing Trisha Jenner, 23 years later, a successful business woman who has her own teenage son, Darry, named after her long lost brother,"


Now we are in September not much more light has been shared on this movie, other than IMDb website has slated the release date for January 1st 2011 and the movie is in Production.

Casting announced so far is Gina Phillips reprising her role from the original as Trish Jenner, Ray Wise reprising his role from the second movie as Jack Taggart, Jonathan Breck donning the Creeper again and Luke Edwards reprising his role as Jack Taggart Jnr. Other cast include Lauren Bosworth, Marieh Delfino and Brandon Smith.

With the lack of info, and just over a mere 3 months away from the stated release date, I reserve much doubt we will actually see this movie that soon. Which makes it even more doubtful about this movie being rumoured in 3D. What is more realistic is the gossip stating this movie being a straight-to-DVD instalment although Victor Salva has announced he would be pushing for a theatrical release.

I really liked the franchise especially the original. The sequel did have a lack of scares than its predecessor but was still fun. And with the hope that the movie will go back to what made the first work so well, I really hope Jeepers Creepers 3 does see the light of day and a theatrical release. Its just a question now of ‘time will tell’!
